I have a friend who is applying for internships at many financial companies like liberty mutual, john hancock, and microsoft in the auditing department, but she doesn't have much experience with interviews. I wanted to do a "mock" interview with her to prepare her better, but I'm not sure what kinds of questions are asked, and what a good response would look like. Also, any suggestions on maaccounting interview questions and answersking a good impression during the interview would also be appreciated. THanks!
Tell her to do some research on each company and have some specific questions prepared. They will likely ask why she wants the internship and what her longer-term career goals are. "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" is still a common question. Why do you want to work for XYZ company? I think it is important to haccounting interview questions and answersave company-specific questions as it will show she was interested and serious enough to do some research.
"What is an ethical decision you had to make and what was the outcome, even if the outcome was not technically the right one?"
"do you plan on getting your CPA? when do you expect to sit for it?"
I heard the interveiws at Microsoft can be kind of intense.
