I am looking for a simple yet effective digital image editing software. What would you recommend and why? (please add source)
"Simple" and "effective" don't always go together.
The best for free is GIMP: - which is open source, free anfree digital photo editing softwared legal. Only download it from the links provided at the official website. But GIMP can be complex, however it's very effective. It's the most similar to Adobe Photoshop which costs $700.
Next best for free is probably Paint.NET simpler but not as pofree digital photo editing softwarewerful as GIMP.
Then there are simple image editors like:
Photoscape
Photofiltre
Google Picasa 3
These are all free and legal.
BK makes a very good point above. The better a program is, the more complex it will be to use.
